Understanding Installation & Deployment
A frequently overlooked part of digital out of home, the physical deployment and installation of a network or single screen is of immense importance. Installation is what enables every part of the ROI model to succeed, it’s what keeps content going, and it’s what keeps the screens on the wall. Since it is a poorly understood aspect of proper digital signage and digital out of home execution, DOOH.com will be publishing a series of articles entirely devoted to the deployment process featuring interviews with the experts at Velociti, a software and hardware agnostic technology deployer.
The series will focus on challenges and how to overcome them, how deployers work with the other parts of an operation, what cost breakdowns are, and will provide a certain level of advice to those wondering about how their idea gets from the drawing board to in front of people’s eyes.
Deryk Powell, Velociti’s COO, stresses that from a planning perspective, “it is never too early to engage a deployer. If you don’t think about deployment from a logistics and budget angle, it can absolutely crush a project.”
“With any type of environment,” Powell explains, “one of the first elements is an initial site survery and walk through. In any type of environment you’re going to have many variations, meaning big differences in mounting solutions i.e. brackets, ADA compliance, electrical cabling. All of those elements are huge factors, if done right, expect deployment to cost about 10-25% of the total solution.”
Making sure that the process goes smoothly is critical. “If things are not discussed properly, installation costs can balloon to up to 50% of a project, taking a big hit on your return on investment.”
Our series will outline the ways to maximize the efficiency of the deployment process by getting advice from those who do it best.
