The ability for digital signage to recognize who is in front of its screen has been pioneered by a number of companies to change the retail and DOOH advertising space. Targeting to a specific gender and age group vastly limits waste, and ensures that the experience is more relevant for the user. While it might not always be right (beards through a wrench in it sometimes) it is getting better everyday and when big brands start to pay attention it is worth knowing about.
The Digital Signage Federation will put on a free webinar tomorrow (October 12th) titled “Facial Recognition and Digital Signage Convergence with Video Analytics,” the overview states: “Video analytics and specifically, facial recognition, is one of the hottest topics in the evolution of digital signage technology and a big step toward meaningful engagement with consumers at point of purchase. Allan Olbur, Visionary and New Business & Partnership Development for CALComm Technology Solutions OLAM Development Group will make the hour-long presentation focusing on the benefits of integrating this technology while ensuring that the installation complies with the DSF¹s privacy protection guidelines.”
Registration for the October 12th event is available online at the DSF website, “events” page at: Digital Signage Federation
